Wondering if You Got an Email Notification of this Post

Oh my word, friends.

This is a sort of test post. In recent months, I have been trying to “up” my blogging game, so to speak, by investigating a few of the millions of tools available on the internet to “grow my audience.”  Of course, you would never know this, because during this time I haven’t posted much here.  There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes, though.

Honestly, I kind of hate that whole “grow my audience” thing.  It feels so ego driven, like I’m a toddler dancing in my favorite princess dress and sparkly tiara saying, “Look at me! Read what I wrote! Follow me! Have your friends follow me! I want to be an Influencer! Isn’t it amazing?”

Ugh.

I’ve been writing blog posts here at OrdinaryHoly for a few years now. I have been quite happy to share these musings with basically 10 of my favorite people on the planet. And just with those ten people.

(With a special thank you to all of you who have been reading since the beginning. And a huge, huge thank you and welcome to those of you who are new here. Thank you friends of Heat D! And my fellow Lions! You know who you are!)

For anybody else to read? That felt pretty scary to me.  But I’ve been growing and learning, and I’m realizing that it’s possible that some of these posts might, just a little,  have made your day brighter.  And there have been comments here and there that, yes indeed, something I wrote made you think, or helped you a little.

(Fighting the impulse here to insert another disclaimer about ego and how I know it’s not about me. But.  Really! It’s not about me!)

So. To make a long story short, a few months ago I signed up for an email marketing program, and just assumed that it would notify all my folks of new blog posts. A big shout out to my daughter who let me know that, no, actually, this was not happening. So any content I’ve posted since I signed up there did not go out like I thought it did.

Today, I think I fixed this problem. It has to do with something called an RSS feed? I guess? Anyway, I am hoping that you got a little email alert this morning that new content was posted. And this is the content!  Also, I am hoping that you did not receive TWO notices of this post.

Here is where I am asking for help: if you are one of my original subscribers, if you got two notices of this post, will you let me know? You can shoot me an email at robin@ordinaryholy.com, or can comment on the bottom of this post. If you are a new subscriber, would you let me know if you got the email and if it was clear and made sense or if it looked like monkeys designed it (thanks, Patt for that beautiful imagery!)?

It is a little vulnerable for me, to try a new way of sending out post notifications, without being absolutely sure in advance that it will all look OK.

But that’s one place where I can grow.

I’m looking forward to showing up here, and posting more, and worrying less about if things are good, but focusing on being generous with what I can create.  Thank you for being on this journey with  me.
